Other Events Aug. 26-29: 'La Résurrection de Jeanne d'Arc’ (en français)

Jeanne d'Arc (1412–1431) mena une armée à la victoire à l'âge de dix-sept ans. A dix-huit ans, elle orchestra le couronnement d'un roi. A dix-huit ans, elle se dressa contre l'église catholique...et échoua. Son procès dura cinq mois, et les témoignages furent soigneusement retranscrits par les notaires. Vingt ans après sa mort, un nouveau procès fut autorisé, et à nouveau des récits détaillés furent conservés. Il s'agissait des témoignages de ses amies d'enfance, ses parents, les femmes qui dormirent avec elle, les soldats qui servirent sous ses ordres, les prêtres qui reçurent sa confession, ceux qui furent témoins et tortionnaires. Elle fut le personnage historique le plus documenté du quinzième siècle. Alors pourquoi le mythe de la paysanne simplette est-il toujours répandu dans nos livres d'histoire?
Jeanne revient pour partager son histoire avec un auditoire contemporain. Elle révèle son expérience avec les élites de l'Église, de l'état et de l'armée et démasque ainsi la brutale misogynie derrière ces institutions essentiellement dominées par les hommes. Cette pièce est inspirée de la biographie de Jeanne par Vita Sackville-West, qui est basée sur la traduction complète de la transcription du procès. Ici Jeanne tente, par les mouvements subtils et un dialogue très expressif de défaire le mythe afin d'aller à l'essence du folklore qui reflète son histoire depuis des siècles. Elle tente de faire la lumière sur celle-ci en dépit des déformations et trivialités faites par les historiens masculins.
