HISTORY OF BLACK MONTREAL
In the early 1900's, Montreal was one of the only places in North America where people could buy liquor legally; the United States and most Canadian Provinces could not sell alcohol legally because of prohibition. As a result, Montreal became "The City that Never Sleeps", the entertainment capital of North America, with several successful night clubs and loads of Black entertainment.
