Legal Aid in Quebec - Commission des services juridiques.
Especially intended for the economically disadvantaged. It gives them access to the courts, the professional services of an attorney or a notary, and the information they need regarding their rights and obligations.
Eligibility for legal aid is based on several factors. An applicant's family obligations, income, property and liquid assets are taken into account in the processing of applications.
Persons eligible for legal aid are entitled to the services of a legal aid attorney. They are also entitled to those of an attorney in private practice if he accepts; however, not all services are covered.
